Two recently awarded
grants give a big boost to Paradise Creek Nature Park
- $50,000 from National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
for partnership coordination and engineering
specifications (ending December 2011), and
- $125,000 from DCR (source is Federal Highway
Administration – FHWA) for construction of 2
miles of trails through the forested area of
Paradise Creek Nature Park (ending December
2012).
The Elizabeth
River Project will begin a capital campaign to raise
funds for building the park.
New River Star Maersk Line
Limited (see photo at right), has adopted Paradise Creek
Nature Park and has a group of volunteers to perform
cleanups, help with forestry enhancements and post signs
at the park.
