The Elizabeth River Project is now in the final
stages of our "Countdown to Paradise." On Oct. 24 came the moment that
so many had been waiting for. Top sponsors and partners got to hike
along 2 miles of new trails that shortly will provide access to the
public to Paradise Creek Nature Park, the Elizabeth River Project's new
park-in-the-making in Portsmouth.
At the event, APM Terminals announced a new $100,000 pledge for the
park, and Mayor Kenneth Wright of Portsmouth met a harmless "milk
snake," sunning on the path. Enjoy the walk with dignitaries via this
video!
The City of Portsmouth will open Paradise Creek Nature Park as its third
largest public park by Dec. 31, 2012 with a Grand Opening planned for
March 2013. Meanwhile, fundraising is underway to add additional
amenities including two education pavilions as quickly as they are
funded.
A Community Preview for key leaders of civic groups is planned for the
park on Nov. 3 at 9 am. Reservations are required - Contact Dave Koubsky
