Endowment Challenge for Paradise Creek Nature Park

Help us achieve long-term stability for our education programming at Paradise Creek Nature Park! The Elizabeth River Project is the proud recipient of a new endowment challenge with Southeast Virginia Community Foundation (SEVACF) in Portsmouth, TowneBank and Susan Robertson, Portsmouth community leader. These generous supporters will match every dollar donated to the endowment for a limited time.

The Elizabeth River Project’s Board of Directors currently has designated earnings from the SEVACF endowment to support our new education efforts at our new 40-acre public park, a partnership with the City of Portsmouth. “Our work at Paradise Creek Nature Park is enormously promising and the endowment is a great way to ensure the effort is sustained for generations,” says Marjorie Mayfield Jackson, Executive Director.

How endowments work: The donor's gift, or "principal," is not spent except in unusual conditions. Instead, funds are invested and the organization receives periodic disbursements from interest earned. This provides a longterm source of funds not subject to the vagaries of fundraising.

Click donate to double your dollar through this exciting challenge. Donate directly to the Elizabeth River Project and earmark your donation for the SEVACF Endowment Challenge. We will forward your generous gift to the foundation, where it will start earning matching funds. Each year, Elizabeth River Project will have the opportunity to spend disbursements from the endowment on park education for thousands of school children.
