900 5th-grade students from Norfolk Public Schools planted more than 1,000 native wetland plants to stabilize the soil along a portion of the Southern Branch, reducing erosion from the waves caused by ships passing in the Intracoastal Waterway and improving the soil’s sponge-like nature to reduce local flooding.
