NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Southern recently completed a shoreline restoration project at Lambert’s Point aimed at improving the Elizabeth River for those who use it.
Officials say restoring this shoreline isn’t just about wildlife. They say reducing erosion and improving water quality will create a healthier environment for everyone.
Norfolk Southern and Elizabeth River Project finished the third and final phase of a living shoreline at Norfolk Southern’s Lambert’s Point.
Leaders cut the ribbon during an event Tuesday morning. The project restored nearly 9 acres of shoreline and transformed over 1,500 feet of erosion.
Erosion was an issue for years, but leaders say they chose a different approach to address it: working with nature.
